RIP, Dale Pople aka Superhero.

On Saturday July 18 we lost our brother, our mentor, our Superhero to suicide.

Please join us for this special episode. We'll talk about ways to cope with depression, how we can help others, and we'll share stories about Dale.

Tuesday, July 21st 7pm PT/10pm ET

Thank you so much to everyone for joining us in honoring and sharing stories about Old Superhero tonight. It's no surprise that our boards were so full, the list went off the screen with people wanting to chat.
In no particular order, thanks to callers Steven Fontaine/"Dusk", Brennan Cox, Vector, Zeta Zimmer, SkyMan, RazorHawk, Zero, Good Samaritan, Knight Owl, The DarkShadow, Tamerlane, Discordia, and Spectral Hawk. We also had Patrioteer, Wolf Paradox, Masa Cloud and a few others hanging in the chat room for some time, despite our ongoing audio issues.

HOPE Portland 2020

This year the RLSH Community actually did manage to have a successful HOPE event, this time in Portland on July 10th.

Organized by local team Iron Squadron, RLSH/X-Alt members from various states traveled and pitched in to help deliver supplies to the homeless population in Portland, Oregon.

People present included Ace, PixiStyx, Star Child, Knuckles, Willow, Xeno, SkyMan, Fairy Rose, Red Ranger, Justin Service, NightBug, Rock N Roll, and Knight Owl. They represented teams Iron Squadron, The ][nitiative, ECHO, and HONR.

The supplies distributed included water, food, hygiene packs, toothbrushes and toothpaste, masks, pet supplies, and lots of socks - all items in high demand by the vulnerable population who often struggle with accessing such essential things, especially in a pandemic.

In this special episode, Rock, Impact, and 'Bug will discuss how to make/find survival essentials, whether RLSH should even continue patrolling during this time, and we'll do a check-in to see how RLSH are handling the quarantine in their areas.

ECHO Patrol Update - March 21 2020

Patrol update from tonight!
We patrolled North Seattle again looking to deter crime, since we've noticed that recently SPD has been patrolling less frequently.
We did some wellness checks and had a few incidents that we responded to.
SkyMan, Justin Service, Iron Baron, and I mobilized on Aurora Ave and patrolled looking for crime. After walking around for a while, we made our presence known and saw lots of the usual suspicious activity begin to clear out. Baron and SkyMan had to evac around 1am, so Justin Service and I continued the patrol as a duo.
We happened upon a man who was running down the road, shouting "I'm gonna kill you", so we followed him and attempted to intervene verbally and deescalate. He threatened us and shouted profanities and ran away, so we called dispatch to keep an eye out for him, and they were able to later intercept him.
Shortly thereafter, we found a woman working as a prostitute who approached us on the street. She called herself "Giggles" and we told her to stay safe and to let us know if anyone acted unsafe towards her or attempted to harm her. She thanked us and a short while later called out to us when a car full of aggressive gentlemen approached her and followed her, shouting. We ran towards the vehicle and heard them exclaiming something to the effect of "the superheroes are coming, they can't find us with this sh*t. Drive!! Go!!" We ran forward and the car peeled out, leaving the area. The woman thanked us and we stayed in the area to make sure things were safe.
Later we identified a car we'd seen roaming the area all night and last night as well, a black Jeep, posted up in an area known for unsavory transactions. We posted up and after a while of seeing us there, he attempted to try to spin us a yarn about why he was there, that he was on call as a water treatment worker for Long County, and was just "hanging out". We figured he wasn't telling the truth, and after seeing a few people approach his vehicle window suspiciously, we decided to call in the tip to dispatch also. He jeered at us and left the area, cursing as he drove away.
Finally we went to the Arco gas station located on Northgate Way & Aurora Ave, and kept an eye out for nefarious activity. We saw a car doing what appeared to be drug trading, as we again saw people coming to and from the window pretty quickly. We called dispatch and I loudly asked if anyone was selling Girl Scout Cookies to get attention. Then I loudly stated that any nefarious activity was being recorded. The car began to drive away, but not before the driver made sure to open their door and spit at us, undoubtedly a sign of their contempt that we disallowed their activities for the night. All the same to me, so we remained steadfast.
We then found a car in the same parking lot that had been idling since we started our patrol, so over three hours at least. We were worried someone might need help inside, so we tried to make contact with them to see if they did. There was one person inside, but they wouldn't talk to us. After asking if they were okay and not getting a response, we decided to call for medical assistance to do a wellness check. We left and called it a night after doing one final loop to make sure the streets were clear of trouble.

ECHO patrol log with Team HONR - Feb 8th 2020

From the Emerald City Heroes Organization's Facebook page:

ECHO Patrol Log: 2/8-9/2020
Location: Capitol Hill Neighborhood, Seattle
Roll Call: Red Ranger, SkyMan, Dragon, Justin Service (Team HONR), Khimera (Team HONR), Operatives of Washington Safety Team
Patrol in Capitol Hill began around 2300 and was primarily peaceful. Aside from greeting fans and doing some minor deescalation and crime deterrence, we were able to help some people who had had too much to drink find their way safely home.
We did have one major deescalation at around 0230, when a man-made racist comments towards a group of people of color, and the two groups moved in to brawl. We stepped in and prevented anyone from getting hurt and told the aggressive party who had made the racist comments that his kind of speech was unacceptable and to leave the area and after some convincing, he did just that and everyone went home without injury.
Peace and harmony prevailed.

ECHO's January 15th 2020 Patrol

On January 25th of 2020, members of the RLSH team ECHO Skyman, Dragon, and Red Ranger went on patrol. Here are their patrol logs:

At least I made it through the first leg of our patrol last night.
We started off doing the downtown corridor and into Belltown as that's where the shootings from earlier in the week took place and we wanted to see what presence there was.
The only thing of real note was a drunk and belligerent who wanted to play 'musical chairs' with a couple of Metro buses. And I'm sure all those commuting folks wanted to do was make it back home. We kept eyes on the situation and made sure the commuters got back on the bus to go. Mr drunk and belligerent snuck himself onto the other bus they were shuttling the commuters to so we stepped in between and made sure he didn't the second time around.
Other than that, only a couple of small instances of de-escalation.
As it was pouring down rain at this point I decided to stay in the van as the others wanted to make a sweep through Cap Hill.
Nothing much to report back from that either.
All I learned?!
I'm out of shape and need to fix that one. Personal motivation has, and will probably remain a big issue for me.
Peace and Harmony Prevailed.

Video footage from last night's patrol.
We happened upon this situation just after 2330 where a man was being violent and refusing to get off a city bus. We helped transit security and the deputies from the sheriff's department facilitate moving civilians off of the bus he was on and onto another bus so they could continue their ride while the belligerent party was dealt with. Unfortunately, the aggressor kept switching busses as well, running back and forth between them, so we had to repeat this process a few times before he finally decided to comply.
Peace and harmony prevailed.

Our Washington Safety Team was out last night with Emerald City Heroes Organization and encountered a drunk / drinking male on two King County Metro Transit buses. He was drinking on the bus. The passengers were great and cooperated with us, echo, and kc metro transit supervisor. The male left after two King County Sheriff's Office came. #Seattle #StaySafe #BeObservant
